Jack D. Kinney
SAYBROOK - Jack David Kinney, 83, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at Saybrook Landing.
He was born June 29, 1933 in Portsmouth, OH, the son of Ray Kinney and Esther (Neff) Wheeler.
Following high school Jack was a "farmer" until he was drafted into the United States Army, he humbly served in Korea for two years.
Jack's sense of humor was one of his greatest qualities, and the stories he would tell were enough to keep a smile on your face and warmness in your heart.
He worked many years at Reactive Metals Industry (RMI), but what he truly enjoyed was spending time with others. It did not matter where Jack was, whether he was at home, Giant Eagle or Saybrook Landing, you could always expect to find him in conversation with someone. He had a great talent for remembering faces and assigning people nicknames.
He also loved to spend his time watching sports, listening to music, and being outdoors.
Jack was a wonderful dad, papa, and friend, and for that he will truly be missed.
He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Laura (Scot) Swanson of Ashtabula, OH; son, Ian (Christine) Kinney of Charlotte, NC; sister, Jean Faris of Portsmouth, OH; grandchildren, Kane and Maxwell Swanson, Evan and Griffin Kinney; and close family friends, Brian, Barb, and Brianna Elliott and Leona Rodabaugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Nathan Kinney.
