Harley G. Conklin
ASHTABULA – Harley George Conklin, 75, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017 at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
The son of Dennis G. and Violet R. (Heath), Harley was born on March 8, 1942 in Perry, Ohio and had remained a lifetime are resident. Harley was a valuable employee of Ohio Rubber Company where he was employed for twenty-eight years.
A love of the outdoors led Harley to enjoy fishing and hunting, the many hours spent were some of his most enjoyable memories. If you wanted a fish story Harley was the master story teller, “you should have seen the one that got away”! In his later years he enjoyed watching television, he liked Gun Smoke and Bonanza as well as any other westerns. Family was very important to Harley, he enjoyed family dinners and picnics, he was always looking for more dessert.
Harley will be remembered for his love of family, his unique sense of humor, and being the best son, brother, husband, and uncle.
Harley is survived by his seven siblings, Donna Brockway of Painesville, Darlene Conklin of Mentor-on-the-Lake, Beverly Conklin, Janet(Isiah) Vera, Brenda (Steven) Radwancky all of Ashtabula, Phillip (Cathy Coffey) Conklin of Lake Wales, FL, and Connie Conklin, also of Ashtabula; his many loving nieces and nephews.
Harley was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Conklin who passed away in 2012; his parents; and his brother Dennis Earl Conklin who died in infancy.
It was Harley’s wish that private services be held.
