Janet K Farman
ASHABULA- Janet Kay Farman, 73, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus in Cleveland, OH. She was born on August 2, 1944 in Ashtabula, the daughter of Howard and Jean (Whyte) Hickok.
A graduate of Ashtabula High School, Janet went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Kent State University as well as a Master’s Degree from Edinboro University. She was a third grade teacher at Chestnut Elementary in the Conneaut Area City School District for 35 years. Janet enjoyed golfing, traveling, and cooking. She loved to watch cooking shows on TV as well as going out to eat at restaurants, with Pickle Bills and Haibachi being among her favorites. She also enjoyed visiting casinos but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
For her whole life Janet was an avid traveler, visiting each of the continental 48 states at least twice. For many years, she and her husband Jerry spent time in Ft. Myers Beach every spring. Janet loved hanging out with her “yaya” sisters, who were her close teacher friends from her teaching days at Chestnut Elementary.
Janet is survived by her husband Jerry Farman whom she married on June 20, 1964; two children, Jeffrey (Heather) Farman of North Ridgeville and Laura (Lance) Lorelli of Austinburg, Ohio; “adopted” children, Erica (Josh) Bates and Megan Landon; two grandchildren Jillian and Hadley; “adopted” grandchildren Gabriel and Grace; brother Howard N. (Sandra) Hickok II of Los Gatos, CA; uncles, Edward, and Dale Hickok.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a lifelong family friend Jeanette Love
Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. on Monday, September, 18, 2017 at ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Rd., Ashtabula. Calling hours will also be held on Tuesday at Saybrook United Methodist Church from 10:00 until the service.
A service will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Saybrook United Methodist Church, 700 Depot Road Ashtabula. Pastor Jeff Stoll will officiate. Burial will be at Saybrook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Saybrook United Methodist Church.
